Ordinary People, Extraordinary Change (Tues. 9/9)

"Your America: Democracy's Local Heroes" takes a close look at innovative community leaders who are creating political change from the ground up. The creator of NOW on PBS and author of "Your America," John Siceloff, Swarthmore '76, will join the host of NOW, David Brancaccio, Wesleyan '82, in discussing how ordinary citizens got started on the road to change and how they succeeded. From a small-town mayor who took on telecom giants to wire his town for free WiFi to a law student who dug up a 1789 act to revolutionize U.S. corporations' overseas policies, Siceloff and Brancaccio's tales reveal the impact of civic engagement both local and nationally. Siceloff's work has appeared in the Washington Post, and his work at CBS, NBC, ABC, and PBS garnered the DuPont, Peabody, and four Emmy Awards. Brancaccio has contributed to CNN, CNBC, and The Wall Street Journal, and he has won the DuPont and Peabody Awards.
